Freshman

                            Retreat

              O n O ctober 11th, the Freshman
class attended a retreat at the Youth
Center near M ercy Hospital. During
that day the freshman covered many
different topics. Th e main them e for
this retreat was that life is a journey w e
all must take. Even the speaker chosen
for this retreat emphasized the theme.
            A c c o rd in g to S am ar U th m an and
            Vanessa Bolano, “Our speaker showed
us through her talk, that no one is safe.
W e can all make irreversible mistakes.”
Th e leaders of the retreat also designed
activities to help the freshman get to
know each other better. Th e first activ
ity was the bringing o f symbols by each
freshman that they felt would describe
them. Another activity that took place
during lunch time, was the enjoyment
o f joint lunches. Th e students in the
freshman class had to pack a lunch for
themselves and for another m em ber of
their class. This retreat succeeded in
helping to draw the members of the
freshman class closer together, it pro
vided them with the opportunity to get
to know each other better. Below: Freshmen huddle together to listen to the various speakers
