Social awareness is The Sacred Heart’s third goal.
Before a student graduates from Carrollton, she
must commit 100 hours of service to the communi
ty. There are variouslypes of agencies where stu-
dents may service sheilas The Barnyard, The Learn
ing Experience, and! Doctor’s Hospital. The Barn BET
yard is an after s c h ® care program, and Carrollton
students go to play, and tutor the children. The
Learning Experiences a school for mentally Hanoi**
capped children, jCarrollton students help the teach
ers by doing group projects with the children. Katri
na Alvarez does her service there and says that “I
have three slm fnts that I work with on a usual baSt&*L'
and they are y^ry eager to learn everyday.” Juniors v
have a requirement of 40 hours, and seniors are \
released eaSy from school to complete 60 hours.
