▪ The 5C Needs gives a structure for thinking about well-being. How well met are the
needs of staff in different roles? E.g. how do TA needs differ from teaching staff?
▪ Recognise and help meet the differing needs across the organisation – not all brains
need the same control and certainty or the same level of connection. Think 5C
Needs – we all have differing size needs.
▪ Set a culture of well-being being everyone’s business and everyone’s responsibility –
not the sole responsibility of the Head.
▪ Help staff to stay empowered – shift from powerless to empowered positions.
▪ Help staff to stay solution-focused – shift from the stop to the start
▪ Set a culture where you maintain high expectations and high support of staff as you
do of students. Follow-up and be insistent, persistent and consistent with staff and
students (with a bucketful of kindness).
