        PART C: THE POWER OF COACHING



        ▪ Coaching provides a space to keep yourself on track strategically. It is a cost-

            effective way to keep yourself sustained. Don’t feel it is a luxury – it should be part of

            your professional support package as a school leader.



        ▪ ESCC have fully funded six sessions of coaching for all current Heads. They will

            part-fund (50%) a second programme of coaching for leaders. The aim should be for
            the coaching to be funded by the school as part of your support package.




        ▪ Clean questions are a useful tool for exploring issues in a way which doesn’t

            influence the questioner.



        ▪ Shifting from fixer to coach takes practice and time.



        ▪ Learning to listen to understand rather than listen to respond is the first step.




        ▪ Coaching requires not jumping in with the answers.



        ▪ Using coaching across an organisation empowers others and increases motivation.
