B. DON’T LEAVE THINGS TO CHANCE – HELP YOUR CHILD PLAN TO GET THEIR DOSE IN HELPFUL
WAYS:
Focus on how your child can maximise their strengths and get their DOSE e.g. coaching Year 7s in school;
supporting a food tech lessons, teaching computing skills – push school leaders to allow opportunities for
your child to feel great and do better in school.
Plan ways with them, both in and outside of school, so that they feel they have positive connections, that
they count, so they feel capable and have a sense of control over their lives. With the whole family and
school staff working together, it is possible to transform how they manage.
C. Help them to REHEARSE, REHEARSE, REHEARSE how they WANT to respond so their responses are
AUTOMATIC rather than their emotions taking the driving seat. Without practice, they do not stand a
chance. Help them to get GREAT at catching and tolerating the prickle.
