3. Adverse Childhood Experiences include five directed
specifically on the child and five related to family members.
The adverse experiences directed specifically at the child
include physical, sexual and verbal abuse, emotional neglect
and physical neglect.
Adverse Childhood experiences also include non-direct
experiences related to family members. These include adults
with alcohol and drug use problems, adults with mental
health problems, domestic violence in the home, adults who
have spent time in prison and parental separation.
