1. Strong, positive attachments
Loving and responsive caregiving is at the very
heart of building strong neural connections.
We know from research that a lack of positive,
responsive attention can have a serious impact on the
size of the brain and the strength and quantity of its
neural connections (see diagram on right).
When children are given loving and
responsive caregiving by all adults around
them, neural connections develop rapidly
and provide a strong base on which later
connections can build.
