When our 5C Needs are not
met, the brain senses danger
& EF Skills become weaker
When needs are not met, the brain can respond with a
threat response – even when there is no real danger
(like thinking someone does not like us).
When our brain senses any threat or danger, the
energy-greedy part of the brain in charge of Executive
Function Skills is turned down. These skills become
weaker. It is harder to be deliberate, calm and
flexible. It is harder to process information.
Cleverly, the brain turns up the skills needed for
threat response and these skills become stronger. We
become more alert, rigid, impulsive and emotional.
Our brain gets ready for fight, flight or freeze.
