Unit 7: Brain Stress Answers
4. Some children are lucky and have enjoyed lots of positive
experiences and their 5c Needs have been met well.
▪ The ‘Feel Good Chemicals’ have built up over time.
▪ The levels of stress chemicals in their body are very low.
▪ This means that when stressors come their way, they have more
capacity and can manage them more easily.
▪ It also means they have developed stronger neural pathways in
the areas of the brain associated with Executive Function Skills.
This makes it easier for them to manage stressors and stay regulated.
▪ They become more resilient to stress.
5. Other children are not so lucky.
▪ The levels of stress hormones in their body are very high.
▪ The brain pathways needed to stay regulated are weaker.
▪ This means that when stressors come their way, they have less capacity
and cannot manage them so easily.
▪ They are more vulnerable to stress.
