Unit 7: Brain Stress Answers
1. A stressor is an unmet need.
2. The different sorts of stressors are linked to the different
types of unmet need; so, a stressor can be:
❖ physical (e.g. lack of sleep)
❖ sensory (e.g. too much noise)
❖ emotional relational safety (e.g. not feeling liked)
❖ emotional task or event safety (e.g. not feeling capable)
❖ Learning / thinking (e.g. the information being too much or given too fast).
3. When someone experiences a stressor, they may:
a) Have the skills to manage the stressor and continue to be regulated
b) Not have the skills and respond in threat response e.g. fight, flight, find or
c) Subconsciously fill their need in any way possible – helpful or not.
