"Sorry, but my wife has always
wanted to try some of your beautiful
Rapunzel leaves," said the terrified man. "I
will not kill you, but you must promise to
give me your first-born child," said the
witch.
The husband agreed and ran home.
When the couple had their first baby girl,
they gave her to the witch. The witch
named her Rapunzel. The witch kept
Rapunzel locked up in a tall tower with no
stairs, but only a tiny window.
Whenever the witch wanted to visit
Rapunzel she would say: Rapunzel!
Rapunzel! Let down your hair for me!
