6- Large intestine
The lining of it contains many convolutions to help in
the absorption of water and salts.
The undigested food wastes pass to it which is
semi-solid with a bad odor due to bacteria.
It secretes mucus to facilitate the passage of wastes outside.
Wastes are expelled out in the form of “faeces” through anus by the rectum strong
muscular contractions accompanied by 2 anal muscle sphincters relaxation on the sides
of anus.
Metabolism: Biochemical reactions by which the body utilizes the absorbed food.
