1- Absorption of water and salts process:
The higher green plants absorb water and mineral salts through their root
hairs in the root system then this soil solution is transported from one cell to
another in the direction of the transport vessels.

Str.: An extension of a single cell of the piliferous layer (epidermis) with length 4 mm.
It is lined internally with a thin layer of cytoplasm with a nucleus & large sap vacuole.
Age: It doesn’t exceed a few days or weeks as the epidermal cells are lost from time
to time and they are regenerated continuously from the elongation zone of root
