         -The velocity of a wave is constant as it travels through the same medium

         and differs as the nature of the medium changes.

         -Wave velocity represents the velocity of the transfer of the energy carried

         by the wave.

       The Wave Propagation Law:

          Wave velocity = Frequency x Wave length

                             V = F X λ

       Examples:

       Calculate the frequency of transverse wave its wave length is 2 m

       and speed is 3 m/sec.?

                                                     <<Solution>>

       V =   x       3 2 =  2          =   = 1.5 Cycles/Sec or Hz

       Calculate the wavelength in meter for a visible light wave of

       Frequency 6x108 Megahertz & velocity 3 x 108 m/s.

                                                     <<Solution>>

          Frequency = 6 x 10  x10  = 6 x10         14  Hertz
                                         6
                                  8
          Wavelength =V÷ F = 3 x10  ÷ 6 x10           14  = 0.5 x 10  meter.
                                           8
                                                                     -6
