Factors determine the direction of wind:

1- The amount of sunlight (solar radiation reach the earth)
2- The rotation of earth around its axis.

Formation of wind:

The movement of air depends on its temperature
1- Hot air molecules rise up (by radiation of the sun)
2- Cold air masses replace it and falls down.

The effect of wind

1- On water cycle: “Carrying water vapor or formation of ocean currents”

Rising up of hot air molecules that has water vapor

leads to condensation of water vapor and rain falling

2- On shaping of altitudes

When the warm air flows away, it cools and descends

so, it reaches the earth’s surface again and become dry.
