Specific Heat: (Characteristic for a substance)

               The quantity of heat required to raise the

              temperature of 1 kg of a substance by 1º C.





                Specific heat varies depending on:


                    •  The type of the substance

                    •  The physical state



                              Specific heat of ice differs than that of liquid water

                        Specific heat of water is greater than any other substance.
