Page Twelve, PHOENIXHospital Givesi # %u2022 !Yieenng viewsThe following statement hasbeen released by Joseph L.Broadwin, Vice President of theBoard of Regents of the LongIsland College Hospital, andchairman of the Board%u2019s Committee on Community Relations.On March 29. the Community Planning Committee for Long Island College Hospital held a meeting of more than 500 people. On behalf of LICH I wish to make some comments on what happened at the meeting and its possible consequences.Statements made at the meetingby community members who haveparticipated in the Hospital%u2019sPlanning and DevelopmentCommittee and myself, indicate abroad area of agreement %u2014 thatthere has been considerableprogress toward creating a planfor hospital expansion anddevelopment which will both accommodate the needs of a 750 bedacute care general hospital andpreserve the cultural amenities ofthe neighboring historicalresidential area. There is still adistance to go, but I believe that asolution to the problem which willbe reasonably satisfactory to theinterested parties (mainly arearesidents, health consumersthroughout the hospital catchmentbasin and health providers) will bearrived at in time to meet the May1st deadline for submission of anarchitectural program in order toachieve State Department ofHealth approval for the newhospital.The March 29 meeting markedOur candlesmake lovelypetsespecialy when shaped like lions, owls, frogs, and monkeys.All sizes, shapes, colors and flavors too.We even carry candles shaped like candles.
