(PHOENIX Photo)ECB Further DelayedAfter last week%u2019s announcement by a City Hallspokesman that BrooklynCouncilman Thomas Cuitewas ready to send hisrecommendations to MayorLindsay regarding thecivilian nominees on theEnvironmental ControlBoard and that the Councilwould act on thesenominations this week,environmentalists reportedthat City Hal! deniedknowledge of such action.Critics charge that Cuite,by delaying the nominations,has effectively put the ECBout of business. A new lawrequires at least two civiliansignatures for final action.So far, no civilians havebeen appointed to the ECBwhich is supposed to becomprised of five city officials and four civilians.In a call to City Hall onMonday, the PHOENIX wasonce again assured by theCity Hall spokesman wetalked to last week thatCuite plans to call a meetingthis week to act on the ECBnominations. He said thatthe information receivedlast Friday by environmental critics of Cuitewas %u201call wrong.%u201d %u201cI can%u2019t seeit going beyond this week ornext,%u201d he said emphatically.However, another call toCity Hall, just at PHOENIXpress time, was less optimistic.
