All the pottery is hand-made on a potter%u2019s wheel, glazed and fired at our storefront. We try to keep stocked a large selection of teapots, casseroles, mugs, bowls, plates, pitchers and goblets for the kitchen, an abundant supply of hanging and standing planters for the indoor gardener. Everything is carefully made with its function in mind. We used to sell half our production to Manhattan%u2019s establishmentstores. But, now find our street trade (to the financial benefit of our customers) sufficient to support our pot (making) habit.DESIGN WISEDesignWise features custommade silver and gold jewelry by its craftsmen, co-owners Jacqueline Paradis and Ruth Marler. A large selection of semiprecious stones (Malachite, Azurite-Malachite, Rhodocrosite, Montana Scenic Agate, Amethyst, Sodalite, Tigereye, etc.) makes it tempting and easy to order what you want in your own designs or those of the shop. As with the jewelry, pottery, paintings, prints, rugs, driftwood and metal sculptures are priced lower than you would expect. Hours are Wednesday through Saturday 12 to 6 or by appointment.P. C. Beautiful effects are almost always achieved.I have become a batik addict. I would rather wax fabric than eat. (Meals at home have gone steadily downhill). I%u2019m hoping others will feel the same, to keep my new workshop buzzing. The name chosen for the shop, submitted to the naming contest by Karin, Nicky, and Helen Mango, is The Melting Pot. This not only reters to the pot of melted wax, but the potpourri of crafts which will be there. Hope to see you!MUSEUM ART SCHOOLThe Brooklyn Museum Art School is one of the major craft centers in the country. Instruction is available in the most popular and little-known crafts. Instructors are the finest in their fields. At our School, nothing gets between you and your art. There are no grades. There are no large classes. There is on-going dialogue between you and your teacher. It is a community of working artists.
