Killeen, a division manager of the New York Telephone Company in Brooklyn, was elected president of the Rotary Club of Brooklyn at a meeting of the Club on March 13. Killeen has been a member of the Club for 20 years, and has also ser ved on the advisory board of the American Red Cross and the Salvation Army, as director on the board of the Y.M.C.A. and as chairman of the U.S. Bond Drive of 1972.1 RecordCBIDTurnoutEndorsesFerrisIn a record turnout at the John Jay High School auditorium, the general membership of Central Brooklyn Independent Democrats, Park Slope, cast their votes for endorsement of a Democratic primary candidate in the 51st Assembly District, which includes Park Slope. Joseph Ferris, the winner, received 199 votes, or 71 per cent; Louise Finney received 73 votes, or 29 per cent. The district is currently represented by Republican Vincent Riccio.In a telephone interview, Ms. Finney stated she would run in the primary, despite her failure to secure CBID%u2019s endorsement. Asked for an opinion on the differences between Ferris%u2019s candidacy and her own, Ms. Finney replied, %u201cI think those differences will become obvious in the next few weeks. The primary, of course, is the real contest.%u201dFerris was unavailable for comment, but CBID%u2019s president, John Wocek, believes Ferris received the endorsement because he is considered the stronger candidate and because of his long service to the Club. %u201c It was the best-attended meeting in our history,%u201d said Wocek, %u201c and I think it indicates the determination of this community to unseat Vincent Riccio.%u201dFerris was the Democratic candidate for the same post in 1972, but Wocek believes Riccio's victory in the last election is attributable largely to the Nixon landslide. %u201c Ferris lost by only 800 votes,%u201d he said. %u201cThis time, Riccio%u2019s support for vacancy decontrol, his opposition to tax credits for homeowners with fixed incomes, and his vote in favor of the hot-dog tax are going to work against him.%u201dNominees for Slope Council NamedAt its March 13 meeting, trustees of the Park Slope Civic Council made nominations for the posts of officers and trustees. Elections will take place at the June 6 annual meeting, to which all members in good standing are invited.
