The small St. Charles Jubilee Center, located on the second floor of the Roman Catholic Diocese%u2019s building at 191 Joralemon St. has very fewfacilities. Its devoted staff, however, more than makes up for the limited facilities.Director Michael Taris and assistants Cathy Kerwin and Sherry Cramner are constantly on hand, formulating programs and eagerly and willingly meeting the needs of the center%u2019s members. Membership is open to all senior citizens over 60 years of age who register to join the group. A popular program of the Center which is open on weekdays from 11 a.m. to4p.m ., is its free lunches for members. Substantial lunches prepared and served by Nicolina Di Puma, assisted by Ralph Serrano and400 Attend Opening Night of Group Show at Gallery 91BY ROGER ERICKSONAs their part in the Brooklyn %u201c Festival of the A rts%u201d being celebrated boro-wide throughout the month of May, Gallery 91 has mounted a professional, museum quality, installation of sculpture and paintings by local resident Ahmad Antung Sufi, Nancy deLaurot, and Lise Williams; This three-person show, remarkable for how beautifully it melds together, opened May 3 with a first night crowd of 400.Lise Williams%u2019 paintings revolve about spherical motifs that serve asabstracted representations of planets, suns, and moons. Thematically and physically these solar coronas work together to suggest fluid movement. Her sensitive color blendings within the circles painted upon square convasesactually seem to fluctuate.Nancy deLaurot is a colorist. Her canvases are organized in straight lines that evoke austere geometric landscapes-but they are not symetrical, and her personal sense of color yields some unusual juxtapositionings.Ahmad Antung Sufi, a sculptor, is exhibiting m anquettes-sm all scale versions of proposed public monuments. Mr. Sufi is fluent in his handling of whatever material he uses-plaster, metal, glass or stone. Especially interesting are three of his sculpted, standing rings that appear to be the cross-sectioned remains of forgotten machines. This group show will continue through May 29 at Gallery 91, 91 Atlantic Ave. Hours are noon to 5 p.m., Tues.-Thurs. and weekends.other volunteers are served from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. each weekday.Originally, the center operated on a one-day-a-week basis, serving a limited number of people. In September, 1973, the Jubilee Center, sponsored by Catholic Charities and funded by the City of New York, became a five-day-aweek program. Its present Joralemon St. quarters are temporary. Later this year, the Center will relocate to 277 Hicks. Facilities at this three-floor headquarters will include a dining room accp, modating 200 persons, an Arts & Crafts room, a workshop, a Library, a Music room, a Sewing room, a TV room and a Pool and Ping Pong room. Members will have a considerable variety of activities to choose from, including a movie once a week and bus-ride outings. Many of the Center%u2019s members themselves perform volunteer work at the Center. Anna Bropson mans the reception desk where members sign in each day. Mary Gaupp helps with food distribution and Jack Licht conducts an Art class once a week. Member volunteers also help out with special functionssuch as the recent Easter party for which the Center's dining room was decorated with festive trimmings. Wine, ice cream and cake accompanied the Easter celebrationwhich was marked by a delicious meal followed entertainment by Dolly Kerwin, Karen Bonnadona and Carolyn Calozzo. Winding up the festivities, members danced to phonograph records. Inspired bv the general hilarity of the event, 1 composed the following poem, on the spot, in about five minutes:What do 1 owe to Easter, you say? Plenty, and 1 owe more every day 1 owe for eggs at a dollar a dozen.I bought some for me and also my cousin.I owe for bread-fifty cents a pound provided that bread can really be found.1 owe for cheese and lettuce and peas.1 owe for butter and things like these.1 owe for beer and a bottle of wine,I owe for a haircut and also a shine. I owe for so much at Easter timeAnd all in my pocket is just one thin dime!HAIRSTYLISTSSuperiorHair CareSuperlativeHair CuttingSuper!Hair Styling78 (.%u2019lark St.522-1222CL.CFTHES designedF O R Y O U-foryour lifeth e way y o uliv e d now ...dr prices noh igher thanHie averageb o u tiq u e %u25a0You can afford -to do if!Susi Martin83^-9676F a n n y ' sBetterDressesCoatsPant SuitsFamous Labels atDiscount PricesBankamericard &Mastercharge accepted56 Court StreetMon-Thurs 10-6; Fri til 3Step %u2019n Style138 too m Montague *?, Si reelFancy fo o tw e a r to carry you into Spring sandals, espadrille patents, in a bouquet of colors and styles.%u00a3>CftLL IT FflR EVERY BODY:je a n s t Sh ir t s for m e nf i L Y/0M^ N' JfWELRY KOHL'S OIL%u25a0 M B * * M i l l i e 6iant TAURUS P illow s8 7 -7 %u2122 AVE.6U 5252M o s t a s s u r e d l y .y o u 'll fin d o u r v e r s a t ilec o lle c tio n o f fin e%u2022 R* we w %u25a0fo r a ll y o u rS p rin g tim e doings^w h e t h e r u n d e rc o u n t r y s k ie so r c ity lig h ts.C o m e s e e u s a t %u00a3 C a s u a l l i u t r t f140 M ontague St.Batik T-ShirtsH a n d m a d e - W ashableINFANT TO ADUIT SIZESDozens of colors - Dozens of designs A whole zoo of animah or whimsical things, \\ ~or whatever yThe M e ltin g PotTh,Fri-10-2 Sat-11-6340 ATLANTIC AVE al Hoyt StBROOKLYN 596-6849Norma%u2019s%u2022Uniforms & SportswearSpecial attention to group orders126 Court Street ( near Atlantic)# we have what you're looking-for... why leave fort Greene %u2022and pay more ?
