Tuesday, January 29, 8 p.m. Again, this meeting will be at St. Augustine%u2019s school auditorium on Sterling Place between fifth and sixth avenues.Regulars at Community Council gatherings foresee this %u201c as a considerable (and probably well needed) change of pace\tell about solving problemsthrough his ancient (Asian) Indian practice called Transcendental Meditation as taught by Mararishi Mahesh Yogi. Although Mongin explains that he has sought with his Council administration to soothe the tone of citizen-precinct discussion on several fervent security-environmental-morals matters, there is yet some space open for a cooler, more contemplative approach to finding solutions at Council meetings.Mongin is not the first person to introduce Transcendental Meditation to a governmental type conference table. He cites the California legislature as having several leaders who bring meditation formally to State problems; and an IllinoisGuest of honor at the Berkeley Institute Father-Son Dinner on Jan. 18 was Ed Kranepool, first baseman of the New York Mets (third from left). Here he is seen with (from left) Jeffrey Nehrbas, president of the Berkeley's Boy's Athletic Assn., Jeffrey Risener, head of boy's sports at Berkeley and Mary Susan Miller, headmistress. (R.
