In 1971 he had a one-man exhibition at the Whitney Museum of American Art. Currently a professor of art at Pratt Institute, the artist is a member of the Board of Directors of the Yaddo Foundation.Schucker's work is included in the collections of the Whitney, the Brooklyn Museum, the Newark Museum Association, and the New Britain (Conn.) Museum of American Art. Recent group exhibitions in which he has participated include exhibits at Amherst College, Katonah Gallery, the Contemporary Arts Center, Cincinnati, and the Whitney Biannual. The works on show at the Hutchinson have been created by the method Schucker has used for years. Thinned oil is poured onto the canvas which is spread on the floor and stretched at each end over wooden bars, one of which is attached to ropes from the ceiling so that the canvas may be levered up, allowing the oil to drip. He regulates the flow of the paint onthe canvas firmly, as the paintings on display will show. The canvasses are stretched and the nuances of color and space are brilliantly revealed.Sufi Sculptures OnView in M anhattanCobble Hill sculptor, Ahmad Antung Sufi, is showing small aluminum sculptures and sterling silver jewelry at the American Crafts Council Metal Show in Manhattan.
