This news on the transit front comes at the same time that there has been substantial progress on completion o f work at three downtown area stations.Potentially, the most significant aspect o f the new spending plan for Downtown Brooklyn is a planned expansion o f the %u201c graffiti-free%u201d subway station program, which already includes 201 stations citywide and 22 in Downtown Brooklyn. Unlike the Mercury o f Greek mythology, however, Ed Dewey sports a mass o f gray whiskers and last weekend participated in the New York Marathon for the fifth time at the spritely age o f 66.The 26-plus mile course of the New York Marathon is grueling by any standards with a track that meanders through all five boroughs, but Dewey, the proprietor o f Gage & Tollner%u2019s restaurant on Kulton Mail, has trained all over the country, participating in road races that netted him a first place award in Sacramento, California that came in the form o f Ostrich egg and more traditional medals v>nd trophies.
