Discussions will be led by Barbara Hebner, assistant minister, and will focus on a different topic each month, including justice, ethics and philosophy.Just Desserts will be held the third Friday of each month from 8-10pm in the Chapel. Bevilacqua of Pittsburgh, formerly of Brooklyn, will receive the 1986 St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Award from the Diocese of Brooklyn. The award %u2014 named for the first naturalized American to be raised to sainthood %u2014 will be bestowed at an awards dinner October 24 at the Waldorf Astoria. Bishop Francis J. Mugavero will preside at the event, which will also m ark the 15th anniversary of the founding of the Catholic Migration and Refugee office when it was formed in 1971. He served in Brooklyn until 1983 when Pope John Paul II appointed him as Bishop of Pittsburgh.An expert on immigration law, he has testified often before committees of Congress on immigration legislation reform. As chairman of the Committee on Migration and Tourism of the National Conference of Catholic Bishops, he has visited refugeecamps in Southeast Asia and has toured facilities for the poor in Haiti.At t lic M i n e u iiu ic T , I w l I u ji u T. Arkwright, a layman, will receive the Bishop%u2019s Award for Distinguished Service. He has assisted works of charity and professional support for many agencies that aid the poor and underprivileged.
