The department provides home care services to patients in their homes and Contessa will direct the 29-member staff. A graduate of Skidmore and New York University, she has worked as a public health nurse, managed several home care agencies, and taught community health nursing. She has also been the liaison with the American Public Health Association for the National League for Nursing, and served on the Hospice Advisory Committee for the Joint Commission for Accreditation of Hospitals.Cadet Leonard Gore, son of Martha and Leonard Gore of Ashland PL, has completed a U.S. Air Force ROTC field training encampment at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. Gore is a student at Duke University.At the Sept. 16 meeting of the 84th Precinct Community Council, the group presented awards for outstanding service to officer of the precinct P.O. William Wansor and P.O. Patricia McDermott were presented with certificates for coordinating police presence for the Liberty weekend celebration. The 13 officers who participated in the Aug. 12 arrest of Van Hull at New York City Technical College, were also presented with certificates. They are: Sgt. Richard Ruberto, Sgt. Umanzor, son of Armando and Betty Umanzor of Fourth Ave., is currently deployed to the North Atlantic aboard the tank landing ship USS Sumter, homeported in Little Creek Amphibious Base, Norfolk, VA. He is a 1984 graduate of John Jay High School in Park Slope, and joined the Navy in December, 1984.Mrs. George M. Billings, chairman of the board of trustees of Brooklyn HospitalCalendonian Hospital will be honored by the Park Slope Neighborhood Family Center at its annual dinner dance, October 18, at the Montauk Club. Since 1979, Allen had been employed by the Human Resources Administration/Department of Social Services.Stephan Koplowitz, the head of the dance faculty at The Packer Collegiate Institute in Brooklyn Heights has been invited to choreograph a portion of the opening dance around the New York Public Library of Manhattan%u2019s River-to-River Festival across 42nd Street on September 28. Koplowitz has chosen some 20 Packer faculty and students, %u201cfrom the tallest to the smallest,%u201d to develop an original piece which will conclude with an old-fashioned kick-line led by the cast of a %u201c Chorus Line.%u201d In the spring, 1987, Koplowitz will premiere several new dances in a weeklong solo engagement at Dance Theater Workshop.Jack Janulis, former Park Slope resident, was married on July 11 to Myra Isaacs of Fair Lawn, N.J. Janulis, son of Anna Johnson and the late John Johnson of Bay Ridge, taught mathematics and science in the New York City public high school system until 1983, most recently at Prospect Heights High School. He is now studying to be a Doctor of Chiropractic at Life Chiropractic College in Marietta, Georgia.
