Em eline Hooper, a Brooklyn Heights resident for 44 years and long-time volunteer and m em ber of the board of directors of Planned Parenthood of New York, died last week a t Long Island College Hospital after a short illness. She was 77 years old.Mrs. Hooper worked a s a volunteer in the office of Planned Parenthood of Brooklyn before it m erged with the New York unit in 1966. At that tim e she served a two-year stint on its board of directors. She also served on the personnel and thrift shop com m ittees and continued as a volunteer a t the New York shop until early 1986.She was the wife of the late Robert Hooper, assistant director of the Long Island College Hospital.Born October 25, 1908 in Passaic, N .J., Em eline Howe Cowdrey w as a direct descendant of Bezaleel Howe, an aide to G eneral George Washington. H er father, Louis R ader, was a successful wholesale cotton m erchant. Active in com m unity life, she was a m em ber of Civitas, the Heights Casino and G race Episcopal Church. A m em orial service was held a t G race Church on June 16. In lieu of flowers, the fam ily asks th at donations be m ade to P lu m ed Parenthood of New York or G race Episcopal Church.M rs. Hooper is survived by two daughters, Phoebe Ann, M rs. William C.
