                                    r %u2019HURCH NEWCCatholic Education Is SetThe Holy Name Church, 243 Prospect Park West, is offering several courses on parenting and Catholic beliefs, beginning in October.An adult education course that will update personal Catholic belief will be offered Wednesdays, beginning October 1 from 7:30 to 9:30pm. The course is designed for Catholics who want to grow with their faith or share it with their children. Robert Zappulla, the religious education director at the parish will lead the session. A $2 weekly donation is asked for each session.A course on %u201c Bringing Up Children%u201d will also be offered beginning on Octobe~ 9 from 7:45 to 9:45pm. Topics covered will include schooling, resolving conflicts, improving communication and fostering self-discipline. Jeanne Clancy who works in the Family Life office of the Diocese will conduct the seminar. A $15 donation is asked for materials costs. (Spouses attend free.) Preregistration is required by Sept. 29. For info, call 768-3007.Plymouth Has New MinisterPlymouth Church on Orange Street has a new full-time interim minister who began conducting regular services this month. He%u2019s Rev. Frank A. Goodwin who, with his wife, Eirlys, is now living in the church parsonage on Montague Terrace. Goodwin replaces part-time interim minister, Rev. Avery Manchester. %u201c Having lived in London for the greater part of life, I am excited at the prospect of actually living and working in New York,%u201d Goodwin said in a message to Plymouth parishioners in the church%u2019s September newsletter.Choir Singing To ResumeThe Adult Choir will resume its Sunday musicial contribution to services at the Lafayette Ave. Presbyterian Church on Sept. 21, and volunteers are invited to participate in its continuing program of work. Choir rehearsals take place every Thursday night at 7:30pm and more singers are needed in all parts.Volunteer teachers at Lafayette Ave. will meet Sunday, Sept. 21 after the morning service as the church reopens its Church School for the 123rd year. Don McKinney, and %u201c is hard at work preparing for a full season of study and action.%u201dPlymouth Choir Practice Is SetPlymouth Choir will have the first rehearsal of its 54th consecutive season on Thurs., Sept. 18 at 8pm and new members are welcome to join.The choir is a group of volunteer singers with professional leadership in each section and no auditions are necessary. Under the direction of Arnold Ostlund Jr., the choir prepares and sings two anthems each week. Great sacred music from many schools of composition is sung, Ostlund says, with %u201c a fair share of English cathedral music, Bach and his predecessors, the great romantics, and, of course, music from the Russian liturgies and American composers.%u201dRehearsal is in the Church House, 75 Hicks St..
