The five-day tour of New England gave him insight into admissions trends at colleges and universities, but was also a brief refresher course as he will return to college himself as a Joseph Klingenstein Fellow to study at Columbia University.Although the program is not a degree program, the credit may be applied towards a degree. Participants %u2014 primarily leaders in independent education %u2014 work on research projects, take classes and conduct two seminars based on their research. Harvey will look at ways to improve school guidance programs and to increase communications between students and their parents and teachers.%u201c It is a great honor for Mr. Harvey and for Poly that he was selected for this prestigious Fellowship,%u201d said Poly Headmaster Williams. %u201c I am confident that Mr. Harvey will gain much from his study, and that upon his return in September 1987, Poly students will profit greatly from his study of communications in the school community.%u201d Harvey and his wife, Graziela, live in Brooklyn Heights.Brooklyn Club MournsAndy Roscoe, a longtime activist and member of The Brooklyn Club, died August 27 in Boynton Beach, Florida.Roscoe joined the club in 1942 shortly after coming to Brooklyn to run the old South Brooklyn (Equitable) Savings and Loan Association. During his tenure at the firm Roscoe served as president and chairman and was active in the merger between Equitable and the Bowery in 1979.In addition to his job commitments, Roscoe was an avid fisherman and sailor, and was a member of the Huntington Yacht Club. He was a former director of J.W. Mays, past chapter chairman of the American Red Cross, and served on the boards of the Navy Yard Boys Club, Rotary Club, Industrial Home for the Blind, Salvation Army and the Visiting Nurses Association.He is survived by wife, Ethel, three children and eight grandchildren.Slope%u2019s Civic Council Announces New GrantsThe Park Slope Civic Council is now inviting applications for grants to be awarded to community groups this fall, says Robert Levine.
