The Rogue Valley Family YMCA recently honored a group of local high school students that goes
above and beyond in their service to the community. Eleven individuals received special recognition
for 2014, known as the Character Awards. This award recognizes teens that live the values of car-
ing, honesty, respect and responsibility demonstrated through volunteer service: Jacey Ashley, David
Barber, Elizabeth Blodgett, Angelo Flores, Halley Folsom, Trea Ford, David Kirkendall, Estephanie
Leal, Kaitlyn Macuk, Kaitlin Nichols and Maddy Schwartz. Three other teenagers received recognition

O as the 2014 Pear Blossom Run scholarship winners: Ethan Cannon, Raymond Schireman and Gracie

A huge congratulations to the SOU Raiders Football Team and their NAIA Championship. With a
wining record of 13 and 2, the eighth-ranked Raiders defeated the seventh-ranked Marian University
55 to 31 in the school’s first ever NAIA football title. Quarterback Austin Dodge of Vancouver,
Washington, was also recently named the Rawlings-NAIA Player of the Year, finishing his season with
over 400 passing yards in the national title game.
