The Wait is Over Living in Ashland in a unique, award-winning
55+ community—owned, operated and
Local musician Jeff Kloetzel governed by the residents...
Singer-songwriter Jeff Kloetzel’s lat-
est CD, Long Time Coming, is a true
labor of love. A rocky 21 months in
the making, this is Kloetzel’s first
release on his Kamananui label in
almost 16 years. Truly a long time
coming.

Kloetzel’s rich vocals and rhythmic
acoustic guitar work lead the music
through diverse genres, from modern
folk-pop to soul, country-tinged rock to
Americana and simple singer-songwriter
material. Lyrics speak of a life fully lived
with love, loss, longing and loneliness,
and also journeys, jokes and joy. The song
arrangements vary from full-throttle band
numbers to stripped-down, mellow acous-
tic tracks. There is truly something for eve-
ryone on this CD.

Kloetzel won the first-ever Southern
Oregon Rising Stars competition in
2012, and the prize of recording
time was the trigger for this new
CD. He performs regularly
around the Rogue Valley.

Making Medieval at ScienceWorks
From blacksmiths to bookbinders, the Medieval times (400-1400 AD) winter 2015 • southernoregonmagazine.com 27
was full of makers—creative folks who tinkered with their materials and
methods to improve their craft and use their skills in new ways. During
the upcoming Making Medieval weekend at ScienceWorks in Ashland,
makers of all ages can explore some of the skills and topics that were
big in the medieval maker movement. Guests can visit with strolling
minstrels, tinker with a modern twist on chain mail, cast with molten
metal, and even fabricate historically inspired moustaches.
