SERVING the Yorke Peninsula for over 20 years
9
During Week 7, our Year 4 and 5 classes spent 3 days
at Arbury Park Outdoor School. On Wednesday, after
travelling to the Bridgewater Oval, they walked to
their campsite, and participated in a scavenger hunt
to uncover mystery words that taught them all about
different things animals need to survive.
On Thursday and Friday they engaged in group
activities about animal survival (learning about
animal adaptations by studying skulls and bird
watching), and freshwater life (learning about aquatic
macroinvertebrates living in the waterways).
The students also participated in orienteering/mapping,
morse code, forest walks, shelter building, the Web of
Life game (where students pretended to be kangaroos
trying to survive the wild with predators, human effect,
natural disasters, etc), and team challenges. Everyone
had a fantastic time learning about God’s creatures,
the effect humans and natural disasters have on the
environment, and working together to problem solve.
