Threats from North Korea:
A Personal View
Morse Tan
Ambassador Morse Hyung-Myung Tan was born in Seoul, South Korea, and he
served as the first Asian-American Ambassador at Large in U.S. history. The
foremost legal scholar on North Korea, Ambassador Tan’s work “North Korea,
International Law and the Dual Crises” was published by acclaimed publisher
Routledge, and he has published more law review articles on the crises in North
Korea than any other scholar. He has held numerous positions in legal academia
such as a founding member at the first American Juris Doctor program in Asia,
visiting scholar at Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law and the
University of Texas Law School, Professor of Law at Northern Illinois University
College of Law, and Dean of Liberty University School of Law. Ambassador
Tan currently serves as Senior Executive Director of the Center for Law and
Government at Liberty University.
In addition to seeking justice throughout the world for mass atrocity crimes
while serving as Ambassador at Large for Global Criminal Justice, Ambassador
Tan has spent countless hours raising awareness through media and speaking
engagements which include CPAC (Conservative Political Action Conference,)
the National Law Journal and Voice of America. The Korean-American Society of
Chicago honored him as Korean-American of the Year and the Chicago Council
on Global Affairs selected him as an Emerging Leader.
