Apricity Benefits Overview
Dependent Care FSA
A Dependent Care FSA provides you the ability to set aside
money on a pre-tax basis for day care expenses for your eligible
dependents that allow you to work or, if you are married, for
your spouse to work, look for work or attend school full time.
Generally, expenses qualify for reimbursement if they are the
result of care for:
Your children, under age 13, for whom you are entitled to a
personal exemption on your federal income tax return and/or
your spouse or other dependents, including parents, who are
physically or mentally incapable of self-care.
Some examples of eligible expenses include the costs
associated with dependent care providers, elder care centers,
nursery schools or day care centers, before- and after-school
programs, and summer day camps. You may elect to contribute
between $250 and $5,000 to a Dependent Care FSA each
calendar year (up to $2,500 if you ile a separate income tax
return from your spouse).
Grace period. The plan year ends on December 31, 2020.
However, you will have a grace period of 2 ½ months to incur
Dependent Care expenses after the end of the plan year. This
means you can incur expenses until March 15, 2021. You will
have until March 31, 2021, to submit claims for eligible expenses
incurred during the 2020 plan year. This spending account
cannot be used for medical-related expenses.
