Disability
A disabling illness can result in inancial devastation for your family. The
Carlstar Group disability program is designed to replace a portion of your
income if you are unable to work due to an accident or sickness—and it
covers you continuously with both short term and long term beneits for
qualifying disabilities.
The program is comprised of two plans which protect you and your
family when you need it most. These coverages help provide the inancial
assistance you need to get back to work and to an independent lifestyle.
Short Term Disability Plans
Short Term Disability (STD) plan beneits are available when you have
been absent from work due to a non-occupational illness or injury. You
are automatically enrolled in the Short Term Disability program when you
are eligible to enroll in The Carlstar Group beneit plans.
Full-time hourly employees with more than 90 days but less than ten years
of service are eligible for 60% of your base pay in STD beneits. Full-time
hourly employees with more than 10 years of service are eligible for 67%
of your base pay in STD beneits. Full-time hourly employees with more
than one year of service are eligible for STD beneits for up to 26 weeks.
Full-time hourly employees with less than one year but more than 90 days
of service are eligible for up to four weeks of STD beneits. Full-time
hourly eligible employees begin STD beneits on the eighth calendar day
unless hospitalized. If hospitalized, beneits begin on the irst date the
disability commences.
Full-time exempt/non-exempt salaried employees with less than one year
of service are eligible for up to four weeks of STD beneits at 100%
salary continuance. Full-time exempt/non-exempt salaried employees with
more than one year of service are eligible for 100% salary continuance
STD beneits for up to 13 weeks and 67% for up to the next 13 weeks of
disability.
Beneits for both plans are offset by any state or disability beneits which
are payable. You must provide documentation when iling a claim.
