Dear Employee:
It’s the time of the year when we outline all the beneits available to you during 2017 through Goodwill-Easter Seals
MN (GESM). We are pleased to offer you options which are valuable, meaningful, and affordable.
In the last two years, the organization had high claims costs so this year would have resulted in signiicant increases
if we had kept the same medical plans. Thorough research led us to switch medical providers in 2017 back to
HealthPartners. This switch will allow an open access network within Health Partner’s largest network of providers.
We added a third plan option to allow employees a wider choice in what solution best works for you and your family.
We added in a hospital indemnity plan which will make moving to the high deductible plan less risky with unknown
costs.
Dental insurance is provided by MetLife for 2017. Please note they will not send ID cards. Copies of cards can be
obtained off of GoodPoint or you can utilize MetLife’s mobile phone application.
Our life/AD&D and disability plans are provided through The Standard. Changes have been made to elimination
period time frames prior to beneits starting and the beneit duration period which will mean short term disability will
now start earlier
Our lexible spending account administration is moving to Discovery Beneits from Beneit Extras. Please see the
FSA transition guide on GoodPoint for more information. In addition, the healthcare FSA maximum is increasing to
$2,600. Voluntary beneits (accident, critical illness and cancer, and supplemental STD coverage) will also be changing.
We are switching to Cigna for 2017 accident and critical illness and cancer plans. Supplemental STD can be retained
with Colonial Life but premiums will not be payroll deducted. Members will need to contact Colonial Life directly to
continue paying supplemental STD premiums for coverage.
We encourage you to read through this guide to ensure you are enrolled in the best plans for you and your family in
2017. Instructions on enrolling can be found on page 4–5. Enrollment is October 31–November 18, 2016. All desired
changes must be made by that date. These elections will remain throughout 2017 unless you have a qualiied status
event within the year.
