How Can Using an In-network Dentist Help Lower
My Costs?
You are free to use the dentist or specialist of your choice. However,
dentists participating in the DentalBlue National Network have agreed
to discount their usual fees. Visiting one of these “in-network” dentists
allows you to take advantage of the discounts they offer. Treatment is
available from dentists who do not participate in the network, but their
fees are calculated based on the maximum allowable charge (MAC) for
dentists in the same geographic area. Patients are responsible for fees in
excess of the allowable charge, and there can be signiicant out-of-pocket
expenses if a non-participating dentist is chosen.
What is Annual Maximum Benefit?
The annual maximum beneit is the maximum dollar amount BCBST
will pay toward the cost of dental care within the plan year. The amount
BCBST pays towards your preventative care does not apply towards your
annual maximum beneit.
How Much Will My Procedure Cost?
Request a predetermination of beneits from your dental provider before
a procedure is completed so that you are aware of your estimated costs
for the procedure before receiving a bill.
