Holidays
At Americare, we observe six holidays per year. Due to our business
commitments, work activity could be required on a holiday, however,
every attempt will be made to keep such time to a minimum. Our
acknowledged holidays include:
X New Year’s Day (January 1) X Labor Day (irst Monday in
X Memorial Day (last Monday in September)
May) X Thanksgiving Day (fourth
X 4th of July (the legal holiday) Thursday in November)
X Christmas Day (December 25)
An employee may be required to work on a given holiday. If an
employee must work on a holiday, they will be provided an alternative
day off.
To be eligible for holiday pay, the employee must have worked the
last regularly scheduled day before and the irst regularly scheduled
day after the holiday, unless their absence on either such day has been
excused by the supervisor or the Division Vice President.
If a holiday should fall on a Saturday or Sunday, it will be observed the
day preceding or following the holiday, as designated by management.
No additional time off will be given for oficial holidays that fall during
an employee’s vacation time.
Holiday pay will be calculated based on the regular straight-time rate
times the number of hours the employee would normally work on that
day. Holiday hours do not count as time worked for the purpose of
calculating overtime.
If a recognized holiday falls during an eligible employee’s paid absence
(e.g., vacation, sick leave), holiday pay will be provided instead of the
paid time off beneit that would otherwise have applied.
Hourly Pharmacists not scheduled to normally work on a holiday will
not be compensated with holiday pay.
