The elimination period is the qualifying period to start salary When an employee’s leave of absence
continuation. The elimination period is ten work days. During the ten- is due to a work-related injury or
day elimination period, the irst ive work days will be charged against illness, and the employee is provided
the PTO. If PTO is unavailable, personal or unpaid time may be used. with salary continuance from the
Holidays which occur during the elimination period are counted as worker’s compensation carrier for
part of the ten day elimination period and are paid according to the time away from work, beneits from
guidelines of the holiday pay policy. this policy will not be granted.
In situations of extended illness, employees will be paid for the
following length of time:
Years of Service Weeks Paid
1 to 2 years of service 4 weeks of full pay
2 to 5 years of service 6 weeks of full pay
6 years or more of service 8 weeks of full pay
Additionally, Americare will pay 50% of the salary for 4 additional
weeks as needed. A physician must certify the extended illness and
verify the need for the time off.
