The Dubai Central Laboratory of Dubai Municipality announced the addition of a new
technology that uses artificial intelligence tools and is used for the first time in the
region to automatically detect Legionella bacteria, one of the types of bacteria that
causes many acute respiratory diseases.
The technology is characterized by its extreme accuracy in detecting live colonies of
this type of bacteria, while displaying the test result in the form of specific
concentrations in the sample being examined in a comprehensive manner, in
addition to its ability to quantitatively detect the numbers of bacteria at a high rate of
up to 99%, in addition to its sustainability by reducing the amount of bacteria.
Laboratory materials consumed, which is reflected in the speed of completion of
work in a short period of time.
Engineer Hind Mahmoud Ahmed, Director of the Central Laboratory Department,
confirmed that Dubai Municipality is committed to developing the digital infrastructure
for its laboratories, and providing them with the latest advanced systems and
technologies that increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the health and safety
system in the Emirate of Dubai, in a way that supports the municipality’s goals in
developing and applying globally recognized standards for certificates. Laboratory
tests and calibration contribute to providing proactive protection and prevention of
public health among community members, and enhance the quality of life in the
emirate.
