Ever wished throwing away your plastic bottles could earn you rewards? Sustainable practices,
like recycling plastic bottles, are now going to be rewarded in the country. Sparklo, a UAE-based clean tech

company, has partnered with Mai Dubai, one of the UAE’s leading bottled water brands, to launch a new
project that encourages recycling and makes it easier than ever, especially for families and students.

How does it work?

They’re installing 30 smart recycling machines, called Sparklomats, in schools, residential communities,
and shopping areas across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Al Ain, and Ras Al Khaimah.

Just drop your empty plastic bottles into the machine and you’ll earn Sparklo points. These points can then
be used for rewards, including discounts on Mai Dubai water deliveries, starting May.

Sparklomat is a smart machine that accepts plastic bottles or cans and rewards you for it. These machines
use artificial intelligence to sort and track the items, making recycling simple, fun, and more impactful.

It’s the first time a UAE bottled water brand is offering a system where bottles can be returned for
rewards. It also helps close the loop, making sure bottles don’t end up in landfills but instead are reused or
recycled properly.

This is all part of the UAE’s broader goals around sustainability, including its Net Zero 2050 and Circular
Economy Policy strategies.
