Expo City Dubai proudly holds the highest level of sustainable tourism certification available globally,
having achieved recognition as a Certified Sustainable Destination under the Global Sustainable Tourism
Council (GSTC). This milestone underscores the UAE’s dedication to placing the planet at the forefront
of its tourism efforts.

Demonstrating the city’s commitment to integrating sustainability into all facets of its development and
operations, Expo City is the pioneering city in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region to
receive full GSTC-level certification, in alignment with the Green Destinations Standard. The criteria
encompass various aspects including tourism destination management, nature and scenery, environment
and climate, culture and tradition, social wellbeing, and sustainable governance.

This achievement highlights the pivotal role of sustainability—environmental, social, and economic—in
the city’s vision, as it continues to serve as a hub for sustainability innovators and a catalyst for
impactful partnerships and initiatives. This follows Expo City’s recognition as a Certified Autism
Center™ last year, reinforcing its identity as a globally inclusive city aimed at fostering a brighter future
for everyone.

Expo City’s GSTC certificate will be presented during the inaugural Sustainable Destinations Forum,
scheduled to take place at Expo City Dubai on October 28-29. This event, dedicated to the region’s
