Destinations Standard. The evaluation spans destination management, nature and

scenery, environmental and climate considerations, culture and tradition, social

wellbeing, and sustainable governance.

This recognition demonstrates the central role of sustainability – environmental,

social, and economic – in Expo City Dubai’s vision. The city has become a hub for

sustainability pioneers, fostering partnerships and initiatives that create a

meaningful impact. Following its designation as a Certified Autism Center last

year, Expo City continues to exemplify a city designed to deliver a better future for

all.

Expo City’s GSTC certificate will be formally awarded during the first Sustainable

Destinations Forum, scheduled from October 28–29, 2025 at the city. The forum,

co-hosted with Green Destinations and in partnership with the UAE Ministry of

Economy and Tourism, brings together regional leaders to advance sustainable

tourism practices.

Her Excellency Dr. Maria Hanif Alqassim, Assistant Undersecretary of Policies and

Economic Studies Sector, stated that, “The UAE has placed sustainability at the

core of its tourism strategy, ensuring that growth goes hand in hand with the

preservation of our environment, climate and natural resources. Through

ambitious initiatives, we aim to expand the tourism sector’s contribution to the

national economy.”
