7/4/24, 9:27 AM Alef, KICD, UNICEF team up for climate curriculum breakthrough in Kenya
UNICEF have signed a pioneering Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)
to incorporate climate change education into Kenya’s public school
curriculum.
This partnership aims to harness technology and digital learning to equip
children, youth, and educators with the essential knowledge and skills
needed to address the climate crisis.
The MoU outlines a collaborative framework to develop and deliver a
comprehensive climate education course that will be integrated with the
existing curriculum designed by KICD, under the guidance of the Ministry of
Education.

The climate education content will be made available through KICD’s Kenya
Education Cloud platform, a digital initiative that connects schools to
educational resources nationwide. This joint effort is expected to raise
awareness, enhance knowledge, and inspire action on climate change
among students and teachers, contributing significantly to Sustainable
Development Goal 13: Climate Action.
