Following the guidance of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum,
Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Defence of the UAE, the Dubai
Government Human Resources Department (DGHR) has introduced a new work policy for
government employees during the Holy Month of Ramadan 1446 Hijri (2025).

This decision supports the leadership’s vision for 2025, which has been declared the “Year of
Community.” It highlights Dubai’s commitment to providing a comfortable work environment while
promoting a strong sense of community and well-being.

Under this policy, government employees in Dubai will have flexible working hours, allowing them to
adjust their schedules while ensuring they complete the required work hours. Employees will need to
work at least 5.5 hours per day from Monday to Thursday and three hours on Fridays. Additionally,
employees will be allowed to work remotely for up to two days a week, depending on their job roles,
work conditions, and responsibilities. However, to ensure work continues smoothly, employees must
coordinate with their managers to maintain productivity and avoid disruptions in public service.

This initiative is part of Dubai’s ongoing efforts to create a supportive and motivating work environment
for government employees. It aims to improve their well-being and boost productivity. The Dubai
Government also encourages private companies to adopt similar flexible policies during Ramadan,
tailored to their specific needs while ensuring business operations run efficiently.

This new approach reflects Dubai’s commitment to work-life balance, community values, and
employee welfare while maintaining high standards of service across government departments.
