The roadmap sets ambitious targets, including the introduction of a
program to accelerate patent registrations for sustainable technologies and

green innovations.

The Ministry aims to increase the share of these patents to 8% of the total
patent registrations in the UAE. With patent applications in the country

reaching approximately 3,622 in 2024, the roadmap is expected to drive
further growth in environmental innovation.

Additionally, the initiative seeks to enhance the UAE’s competitiveness in

global rankings, particularly the Global Innovation Index (GII), where the

country currently holds the top regional position.

Al Saleh highlighted the nation’s achievements in establishing a strong
legislative framework for intellectual property, including laws on industrial

property rights, trademarks, copyrights, and neighboring rights.

By strengthening legal protections for environmental innovations and

fostering collaboration with global and local stakeholders, the UAE aims to
cement its position as a hub for sustainability-driven intellectual property,
further reinforcing its leadership in innovation and the green economy.
