Dubai Government Announces Eid Al Adha Holiday for 1446 Hijri
In a formal announcement that resonates with the cultural significance of one of the most important religious holidays in the
Islamic calendar, the Dubai Government Human Resources Department (DGHR) has declared the Eid Al Adha holiday for the
year 1446 Hijri. This decision reflects the emirate’s commitment to fostering a work-life balance and acknowledging the
invaluable time that families, communities, and citizens devote to religious observances.
The holiday will commence on Arafat Day, marking the ninth day of Dhul Hijjah, corresponding to Thursday, June 5, 2025. This
year, government entities, departments, and institutions across Dubai will enjoy a public holiday extending until the 12th of
Dhul Hijjah, which falls on Sunday, June 8, 2025. Work is scheduled to resume on the following Monday, June 9, 2025,
allowing ample time for celebrations and communal activities typical of this festive occasion.
It is important to note that while this public holiday is a time for widespread celebration, certain entities will be exempt from the
closure. Organizations engaged in shift-based operations, as well as those responsible for essential services and facilities
management, are not affected by this circular. Such services are critical to ensuring uninterrupted public access to essential
utilities and emergency assistance during the holiday period. Consequently, these entities are empowered to formulate their own
work schedules according to their operational needs, a move that underscores the importance of service continuity in a bustling
metropolis like Dubai.
