            of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UN Tourism) for the
            2026-2029 term.

            This nomination underscores the UAE’s commitment to advancing global

            tourism sustainability and reflects its influential role in the sector. The
            country’s remarkable tourism growth, resilience, and continuous support

            for UN Tourism initiatives further reinforce its leadership on the
            international stage.

            Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, UAE Minister of Economy and Chairman of the

            Emirates Tourism Council, reaffirmed the country’s commitment to global

            tourism sustainability and cooperation.

            Al Marri highlighted its strong ties with UN Tourism and re-election to the
            Executive Council for 2025-2029, emphasizing the UAE’s growing influence.

            He added that Shaikha Al Nowais’s nomination as UN Tourism Secretary-
            General reflects the UAE’s leadership in promoting tourism growth and

            sustainability.

            A trailblazing Emirati leader


            Shaikha Al Nowais is the first Emirati woman to run for this prestigious role.
            Shaikha holds key managerial and academic positions that shape the

            tourism and hospitality industry and has been instrumental in leading

            impactful tourism initiatives both in the UAE and internationally.

            If elected, she would become the first woman from the region to hold this
            position, marking a historic milestone for Emirati women in global

            leadership.

            With over 15 years of experience, Shaikha has played a pivotal role in
            shaping the future of the tourism and hospitality sector, driving innovation,

            sustainability, and workforce development.

            As the first female board member of the Dubai Hotel Group under the

            Dubai Chamber of Commerce, she has been actively involved in advancing
            industry policies and fostering public-private collaboration.

            Sheikha is also a member of the Global Hospitality Asset Managers

            Association (HAMA) MEA Chapter, reflecting her expertise in hospitality
            investment strategies and asset management.
