9/2/24, 3:14 PM Ajman Port and Customs Chairman meets Minister of State for Foreign Trade
Secretary for Foreign Trade Affairs at the Ministry of Economy, and several
officials.
During the meeting, both sides discussed ways to enhance cooperation.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Nuaimi highlighted the role of the department
in advancing customs operations, facilitating foreign trade, diversifying the
economy, and increasing the growth rates of container volumes at Ajman Port.
He also noted the provision of the best facilities and services to small and medium-
sized enterprises to strengthen their competitive role both locally and
internationally.
The discussion took place during a briefing where Dr. Thani Al Zeyoudi was
updated on the latest initiatives and projects launched by the department.
He stressed that the visit is a crucial step towards enhancing coordination and
cooperation with the federal government to support the foreign trade sector, achieve
sustainable diversification across all areas of the national economy, and boost non-
oil GDP growth in the UAE in general, and Ajman in particular, given its strategic
geographical location on the Arabian Gulf coast and its role as a link between the
various emirates of the country.
Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi stated that the UAE is considered an international
pioneering hub, enjoying a prestigious global standing. It has become an important
centre for non-oil foreign trade and has expanded its network of trade partners by
opening new markets through the signing of Comprehensive Economic Partnership
Agreements, which enhance the economic diversification policy and contribute to
doubling the country's GDP.
