Ministry of Economy organises forum titled ‘Empowering Brands
through Innovation’ to strengthen collaboration in trademark
protection for UAE businesses and entrepreneurs

to enhance the competitiveness of brands, further offering an integrated system for their
protection. The forum is a testament to the UAE’s commitment to fostering an environment that
supports innovation.
Abu Dhabi, 24 February, 2025: The Ministry of Economy organised a forum titled ‘Empowering
Local Brands through Innovation’ (Beyond +71), in collaboration with the Brand Protection Group
and AIPPI UAE .The forum coincided with the UAE Innovation Month 2025, in line with the
Ministry’s efforts to strengthen the country’s intellectual property (IP) system, and supporting
SMEs to build brands that are capable of global expansion.
During the forum, several entrepreneurs and SME owners shared their success stories of building
robust brands that have expanded globally. Participants further explored avenues to raise awareness
on the significance of brand registration to safeguard against counterfeiting and unlawful
exploitation. This can be done by leveraging the Ministry of Economy’s registration and protection
services.
His Excellency Abdullah Ahmed Al Saleh, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Economy, said:
“The forum is a testament to the UAE’s commitment to ensuring a supportive environment that
fosters innovation and enhances the intellectual property system, which further supports and
empowers entrepreneurs and national brands to expands their footprint across global markets.”
H.E. Al Saleh further emphasised that the constant increase in brand registrations across the country
reflect the confidence of entrepreneurs and investors in the UAE’s economic landscape that offers
an advanced legislative framework and modern digital services that protect IP rights and enhance
global competitiveness of UAE brands.
H.E. Al Saleh added: “The Ministry places great priority on enhancing the competitiveness of
national brands by providing an integrated ecosystem of supportive initiatives and policies that
enable them to grow. Initiatives such as the Madrid Protocol has opened new avenues for trademark
owners to register their brands globally with flexibility and convenience. Additionally, the ‘One
Day TM’ initiative expedites registration processes and enhances digital transformation of services.
